This is the home of Prof. Dr. Andrey Zheludev's Neutron Scattering and Magnetism Group in the Laboratory for Solid State Physics at ETH Zürich. AZ's personal and lepidoptera web pages are located elsewhere.

Our mission is fundamental experimental research in solid state physics, with a focus on collective quantum phenomena in materials, particularly on magnetism. Current research topics include criticality, phase transitions and disorder effects in quantum spin systems, complex helimagnetic structures, ferroelectrics and structural transitions, multiferroic materials and more.  Our main tools are inelastic neutron scattering , neutron and X-ray diffraction, and muon spin rotation spectroscopy at user facilities in Switzerland and around the world. We also perform a variety of measurements in-house, such as calorimetry, magnetometry, X-ray diffraction, and optical spectroscopy. In addition, we synthesize and characterize many of our own samples.

We are active members of the Swiss NCCR MaNEP (Materias with Novel Electronic Properties), particularly in its Project 6 (Magnetism and Competing Interactions in Bulk Materials).
